More and more private students, especially young ones, are finding their way into my schedule; more and more people are contacting me about my work, asking for more workshop options, getting excited to enrich their lives with Song. I am humbly grateful to be able to offer this important work! Sometimes my schedule is impossibly crammed, sometimes it's precariously empty - but those are the times when I have time to practice, write, create.

I have posted the new schedule for 2013  on my page titled: "Upcoming and Current Events in Fair Oaks" Check it out!  I'm excited to see it manifest.

On this day, 12/12/12, I am inspired to move forward, to make things happen.
Ring out the Old, Ring in the New!

Blessings to All

Many of you have expressed to me your wish to take another lesson or two, someday, if you could only fit it in!  Some of you simply had unsolvable scheduling conflicts this past Fall; maybe you need another reminder to schedule your long wished-for lesson, but maybe this "someday" is now, during the Winter break?

As it turns out, I am going to stay home and I'm hoping to spend some time during this break doing what I love: teaching singing and helping teachers with their classroom music.
Don't hesitate to contact me, I'd love to work with you this December!

Have a wonderful Advent time!

I' packing and preparing for a week in Carmel and Pacific Grove, working at the Monterey Bay Charter School, helping the teachers with their music in the classroom. As I was there last year as well, I have an idea of what to expect: I am anticipating a very full, exhausting yet rewarding five days with an enthusiastic group of people and a couple of amazing walks at Carmel Beach and Asilomar...
The school has requested a Parent Education Evening about "Building Social Awareness and Compassion through Song" - the workshop title I will be offering Saturday, November 17th in Fair Oaks.
I have the feeling that for me this theme will be particularly important for my work in the near future.

My schedule for the school year is filling up rapidly -
I am already running into the usual puzzle -challenges of a crowded schedule. How to consolidate family schedules with work? I had to make some corrections on my Fall-program. If you were looking into it, please look again! The September Saturday classes may need to move to the last week of September (29th)

Nice problem to have, in the end... Thank you all for your support!
I'm looking forward to a productive, wholesome and harmonious Semester.

September 29th  9:00AM – 12:30PM
If the School of Uncovering the Voice is new to you, this class is strongly recommended as a foundation to any of the other classes!
With beautiful exercises designed to discover and cultivate the subtleties and potential capacities of the singing voice, we will take first steps to explore this modern, wholistic schooling path with its depth and esoteric implications, developed by Walborg Werbeck Swaerdstroem.  All levels of skill are welcome!

II) Techniques to teaching and leading songs
September 29th  2:00PM –5:30PM
An intensive tutorial for teachers who use (or would like to use) more music and singing in the classroom and in group gatherings. Basic musical skills (note-reading, ability to matching pitch) are recommended for this session. Optional: bring soprano or Alto recorders, if you have them.
This class will be repeated/continued in December.

III) Fine-tuning the listening
October 20th  2:00PM to 5:30PM
This class is recommended for people who love to sing but have trouble holding a melody against a harmony or singing in tune. We will get to know and recognize the patterns of scales and intervals and practice our musical memory and melody- imitation.
We will work on ear-training and harmonizing with beautiful exercises from the School of Uncovering the Voice and the application of the practiced techniques to easily accessible songs and rounds.

IV ) Building Social Awareness and Compassion through Singing
November 17th 9:00AM – 12:30PM
Group exercises and games to awaken heightened awareness and appreciation of others as well as ourselves; Round- and part-singing as part of a social healing process. A new summer, a new schedule, new ideas

I have not visited this blog in a long time - it's overdue for an update! I'm still trying to figure out how to make it look just right. Summer Courses at Rudolf Steiner College www.rudolfsteinercollege.edu have just finished for me. It has been an incredible experience once again, meeting hundreds of people: experienced working teachers and those who are still aspiring to become teachers; established musicians and those who are terrified of tapping into their musical side; people older than my parents and people barely older than my oldest child, all sharing the experience of discovering Waldorf Education. Soul-Healing can take place here in record time, laughter and tears sit really close together, enthusiastic energy and deep fatigue seem to be hopelessly entangled on a daily basis. Many new connections have been made and many inspired, hopeful plans discussed. This last month alone over 30 people have looked at my embarrassingly outdated blog page! I better pick up the slack.
The next couple of weeks are set aside for creating a new schedule for the coming school year, packing it as full as possible without losing valuable family time.
I am gearing up for another fun block with the waldorf-inspired home schooled children at www.wholisticlearningresources.net, planning another couple of group singing-lessons and teaching-aid courses for music in the classroom, scheduling mentoring and music support-visits with several Waldorf schools and reserving a limited number of time-slots for private lessons.
And of course, I am looking forward to another awesome season with the Sacramento Master Singers!
