summer activities

Some people are at the beach, in the mountains, tropics, rivers, visiting new places. Some day I will do that, too. But this Summer I am busy exploring a new place right here in my own home. I love being in this new room!

Bill helped me re-finish an old bookshelf I found at the thrift store. It looks beautiful now! I have a few folding chairs now, although I will need a few more, a water dispenser and a wooden music stand that sits on top of the piano. I have a little metal cash-box and books to keep my records in.

Dozens of folders with sheet music and workshop packets are being sorted into Binders while the cat looks on - my new air-conditioner is cooling the space beautifully. I never seem to be able to finish the task - there is always more, but my new bookshelves can hold it all in the end. I knew I had a lot of music collected over the years, but  only now am I realizing just how much. And I also know: I'm only scratching the surface: there is so much more amazing music out there, ready to be explored. I am searching for music to sing with my 2 new groups of children at Holistic Learning Resources and it's hard to do without knowing the children at all.

Practicing the piano is my activity when I take a break. It's fun and yet terrible, because the poor instrument is so awfully out of tune. I'm saving up for a good tuner. Not yet....

Gradually, occasionally, students begin to find their way to my new studio this August. Soon I will have many, a constant stream of enthusiastic singers, blessing my work space.

teaching is inspiring!

I am now in the fourth week of teaching summer courses at Rudolf Steiner College. So many people from all over the country are there, seeking inspiration, information and transformation. Many have come and found new courage and joy in their singing, many have overcome their fear and resistance and want more. They wish me to teach in Southern California, Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, New Hampshire, Ohio.... Although I cannot possibly be in all these places, I could visit - and so my work grows. I am grateful for so much support from the Universe, because I am energized, warmed to the core and in the flow of intuitive teaching all day and then deeply exhausted when I am at home. Sleep is the only thing that still works then.

If all teachers could sing, listen, teach and simply BE with this immense joy I feel when I teach, I think they would never again have classroom-management problems, or struggle with those seemingly unsolvable, heartbreaking conflicts with their colleagues or parents. Blessings on your Songs!

It's time!

I returned recently from 4 days intensive work with my teacher and colleague Christiaan Boele. I am once again re-inspired, encouraged and have a few new perspectives on the School of Uncovering the Voice. I am so humbly grateful and happy to be able to work with these incredible tools for artistic expression, freeing the voice and balancing the listening, all the while being at the forefront for the advancement of the human soul! Things are beginning to happen: the calls are coming in, networking is in full swing, requests for more of my work abound. Do you want a lesson? schedule it soon, it looks like I will be filling up quickly.
Bill is installing a little air-conditioner for us tomorrow and the curtain rods are going in, some strong men will help to move the piano in - and I am ready to work come Friday!
Next stop: piano tuner.

RSC student home by night, music studio by day - that's what it will be throughout July.

I'm excited!

Blessings,
Eva

Cultivating Voices, Lifting Hearts

What I Can Teach You

In my "Sound Integrity Singing" Studio all participants are offered techniques, exercises, songs and inspirations chosen and designed to:

  • Develop mastery over the physical instrument, which includes the whole body including the breathing and  energies flowing through it.
  • Learn how to use the voice consciously, confidently and in alignment with one's intentions
  • Find Joy, Enthusiasm and Creativity through Singing
  • Cultivate a singing voice that is effortless, flexible, objective and universally beautiful
  • Discover the deep connection between the development of the soul and vocal development.

Participants in my courses for classroom support and pedagogy will also receive insight into:

  • the profound influence of sound and music on the development of the human being
  • How to teach and lead songs in the classroom
  • relevant  music curriculum in the Waldorf Schools
Participants who are asking for a therapeutic approach will also receive individually designed exercise sequences to address their specific issue.

Taking Charge

Come one come all and sing with me!
I realized that a blog will work just fine to let everyone know what I'm up to and how to get in touch with me, to see my schedule and what I offer . A website will follow as soon as the business is settled and the schedule filled.
My new little music room in my home is almost ready for the piano to go in! I have a lovely couch in there, a desk and a water dispenser. The rug is still somewhere in some store, the fold-up chairs and the music stand still on the wishlist, the coat hangers not on the wall (who needs coat hangers in June, anyways!). The Cash-box still needs to be bought, the schedule needs to be filled, business cards need to be ordered and the dog needs to be taught to ignore visitors.  He is already doing so much better!
Meanwhile I'm still finishing the last two weeks of teaching school, writing reports, packing up my stuff there, planning summer courses for Rudolf Steiner College... Then I will replenish my professional well-being and spend several days with my teacher Christiaan Boele in Santa Rosa.

Then I'll be ready to invite my first students into my studio.
